The African bush is a wild place, alive with colour and texture. There is however the stark reality that this is where animals compete for their very survival. Food and water are limited resources. Domestic livestock compete along side the wildlife. Tourists often interfere with hunts, and poaching is still an insidious threat to some species. In the O-bleak collection the artist is seeking to convey some of this stark reality to the viewers. An oblique view is a slightly skewed perspective, evasive and in-explicit in nature. The bleak presentation of the animals depicts something of their somber commitment to their own survival.
